There are no prerequisites or skills needed to begin training with Ottawa Kenjutsu. New students have had a wide range of experience when they began – from no background in martial arts to decades worth of training. Students will be taught at their respective level. The class environment emphasizes cooperation and learning in a supportive setting. Interested students require only a desire to learn.
Anyone interested in training with Ottawa Kenjutsu is encouraged to either observe or participate in a class free of charge. Prospective students who are under the age of 18 will need to observe class with their parent or guardian before being allowed to participate (the minimum age for participation is 14 years old).
Prospective students who wish to participate should bring loose fitting athletic wear to train in. No special equipment is required as there are training weapons at the dojo for individuals to borrow.
Change rooms and shower facilities are available at the dojo.
The class fee is $15/class or $80/month for access to all kenjutsu classes offered that month.
An entry package is available for $170 and includes one kenjutsu class a week for three months and a white gi (training uniform).
